La Matelote, IGP Mont Caume

Grape varieties:
Grenache (70%), Syrah (20%), Rolle (10%)

Eye:
Salmon pink

Nose:
Intense aromas of fresh red berries.

Palate:
Round, rich but delicate, balanced acidity

The Dupuy de Lôme family estate lies at the heart of the Bandol appellation. The 18-hectare vineyard stretches across the Grès massif. It has been certified organic since 2013. Added bonus: the estate also produces a small quantity of Vins de Pays du Mont Caume, the La Matelote vintage. The Mont Caume appellation is not very well known within the Bandol appellation in the Var, but it is just a few metres from the AOC.  Hence the more affordable price.
