Riesling T 2021, cave de Turckheim

The quintessence of the emblematic Alsatian grape variety

Latest edition : 14 February 2024

The Turckheim cellar offers the entire range of Alsace wines. In this vast offering, the T range holds a special place. It expresses all the purity of the grape variety, magnified by long aging in barrels. It is (for the moment) composed of only two vintages, Rouge T de Pinot noir, and this Riesling T 2021.

Riesling T is the result of rigorous plot selection by oenologist and cellar master Daniel Gerold. The Riesling T grapes come from 4 steep granite plots at an altitude of 380m and facing south-south east.

The fermentation of the grapes (non-malolactic to preserve their freshness) is initiated in stainless steel vats then in acacia tuns. This essence does not provide tannin, in order to leave plenty of room for the expression of the Riesling.

Riesling T is of great finesse, with the typical aromas of this emblematic Alsatian grape variety. Citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit) mingle with subtle floral notes (lemon blossom, acacia, lime), supported by a mineral framework.
The aging brings fat and length, without losing freshness, to make this Riesling T a balanced wine, dedicated to gastronomy.

Served between 8° and 10°C, Riesling T elegantly accompanies seafood cuisine: fish in sauce, seafood and shellfish.
Its complexity also allows it to accompany creamed poultry or even foie gras in brioche.

As for desserts, it can surprise with a pithiviers, a galette des rois or a clafoutis with dried apricots.

A great Riesling from Alsace that will patiently improve over the next 10 years!
